Click to return SNAP! and the line breaks 30m (100ft) below the pair of kites.
This line has been static tested at around 60kg breaking strain - so imagine the pull of the two DCs together!

Now, kiting experience suggests that a kite will not fly on a loose line - instead it luffs and stalls, settling down to earth in a reasonable distance.
The catch is (in this case) each kite had the other to keep the line taut enough for flight.

And fly they did.

First they drifted over the tall block of units above the park, then off, high over Good Street. Trailing their 30m tail they crossed the Great Western Highway, bound for climes unknown.

Over half a kilometre from "breakaway point", DC#1 apparently had a change of heart, and the pair came down to earth without fuss or damage on the grass verge of the street.

Students of Parramatta High School's history will appreciate the significance of the landing place, Robilliard Street. This is not the first time that DC#1 has exhibited a "homing" tendency after being cast adrift.
