Joy is one half of the famous McKean Sisters (the other half being her sister Heather). The girls are former students of our school who attended in the postwar period.

They are singers and songwriters with more than 50 years' experience in country music as professional stage, radio, record and touring performers. They have won a number of Golden Guitar Awards and are listed on the Golden Guitar Roll of Reknown.

The McKean Sisters nurtured a number of country singing hopefuls on their various radio programs in the 1950s. They also toured extensively, including stints with the Reg Lindsay Show.

After many years association, Joy was elected chairman of the Country Music Association of Australia in 2001. Heather is the president of the Slim Dusty Fan Club
