Vale Syd Adams
In the first week of December, 2003, Parramatta High suffered a great loss. On Wednesday (3/12/03) Mr Adams, Head Teacher Science, passed away. Parramatta High was the first school he taught at in Australia after emigrating from Ireland in 1975.

Mr Adams remained at Parramatta until 1987 when he was promoted to Head Teacher Science at St Clair High School. He returned to Parramatta in 1999. He was truly committed to the students and ideals of Parramatta High School.

Mr Adams is sadly missed by both staff and students. His dedication and enthusiasm for science teaching was unbounded. He was able to inspire students to achieve to the limit of their ability and many continued to further studies in this field because of his teaching. He gave freely of his own time, often conducting extra lessons before and after school, during sport afternoons and the holidays.

He was a compassionate man who valued all students of the school and was able to see positive outcomes for even the most challenging students.

Mr S. Adams

We will all miss his quiet Irish lilt and the sparkle in his eyes when talking passionately about a subject of particular interest. On behalf of the school we offer our deepest sympathy to his wife and family.
